My name Lutando Simango ,I come from the Eastern part of Zambia. I was born in 1992 on second of Am a third born in a family of eight. I was brought up from a Christian home and I love to do godly activities.I lost my father when I was just eight years old then after eight years my mother also joined her ancestors and life became miserable for me and my siblings.
Nevertheless I managed complete my secondary school in 2010 and joined society.
I never had any interest in romantic relationships because I was just interested in going to university and become a degree holder. Different men approached me but I was so difficult to convince until I was admitted at one of the biggest and famous university here in Zambia.
In my first year I met a second year student who convinced me to start dating him. At first it sounded awkward but I later started enjoying the relationship. I can confess that the guy was coming from a very poor family compared to were I come from, but he was full of love and gave me the attention I needed.
We used to eat together at any given meal time and it was awesome. We could buy groceries together and share everything we had. He would help me out with assignments and the materials i needed. Everyone in the campus who knew about our relationship believed that we were soulmates. I would do laundry for him and he would iron for me since I loved to wash clothes but never loved to iron them.
We were the talk of the campus until he completed and left for his hometown.
The last year in university was very hard for me because I never had close colleague like him,so I was just praying that I finish and go back to my hometown as well. He was fortunate to start working just after university results came out,so he would shower me with random gifts and money. Our lives were never the same,we started doing business together and bought land for our dream house.
We started building and bought household items. After I completed my program I went back to my hometown and we kept on visiting each other. Until one day, he told me that he's coming with his family to see my people. I was very excited because I really loved the guy. I told my guardians about the news and they were very excited for me. The arranged day came and we dressed in a beautiful chitenge wear we took to a skilled tailor. Marriage negotiations were made and they paid everything.
He never wanted us to have a wedding, just wanted me to join him traditionally and I never liked the idea because I really wanted to put on a wedding dress.
My family started preparing for my Big day because they believed I needed to be sent off to my husband's house with a huge celebration.
A week to my big day ,his young sister called me to tell me that he impregnated some woman at his workplace and I was heartbroken. He tried to make me understand that it was a mistake but I never accepted his apology. I completely disconnected myself from him and started a different life. I began to hate romantic relationships and never wanted to think about what happened to me.
The man refused to get his bride price and kept on bothering me on different numbers but I stood my ground and kept rejecting him. He later found someone and married her while I was still single. People laughed at me because I rejected a man and couldn't get someone to marry me. I kept my faith alive until after 3 years I met my current husband.
After two years of being in marriage,a lot of people started calling me to congratulate me for rejecting him because he became a drunkard and womanizer such that the current wife is contemplating divorce. I thank God that I made a right choice and am the happiest woman ever. God has blessed me with three beautiful children and we are happy and healthy together.
